Air Abrasion units use compressed air to force tiny particles (aluminum oxide) through a handpiece to the surface of the tooth, much like a sand blaster. This enables the dentist to remove decayed tooth material in preparation for a filling or placement of sealants
without the use of a drill, often resulting in less discomfort and no need for anesthesia.
